Danny Brannon was born and raised in Alpharetta, Georgia. He grew up in church but did not make the things of God personal. At the age of sixteen, while driving, Danny realized he needed to be saved. After arriving home, he called his pastor. That night Danny trusted Jesus Christ as his Saviour.

As a teenager, while being home-schooled, he started, owned, and operated a successful towing business. Danny planned to pursue his career, but God had other plans. He felt God working on his heart, and he began to read the Bible and grow as a Christian. The Bible became the first book he ever read in its entirety. After about one year of "struggling," he surrendered to God's call to preach on Mother's Day 1997. Danny went to Gwinnett Hall Baptist College and later transferred to Sharon Baptist College in Suwanee, Georgia, where he studied for the ministry.

The same day he was called to preach, his future wife, Cherie, was saved at another Baptist church in Georgia. Soon after, they met through their families and began dating. Cherie, a student at the University of Georgia, decided to transfer to go to Bible college as well. They continued dating and were married on October 3, 1998.

While pursuing a degree in pastoral theology, Danny began working at the Sharon Baptist Church in Suwanee. Danny helped start a Christian school during his time there. He oversaw the school as it grew from 0 to 150 students. He also helped to oversee the completion of a $3-million building project for the school.

Although he could have stayed in Georgia, once again God had other plans. During this time he was greatly influenced by First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana. God began working in his heart to go to Hammond and learn at First Baptist Church, under the leadership of Dr. Jack Schaap.

Danny and Cherie did come to Indiana and began attending Hyles-Anderson College. In 2005, when he was six months away from graduating with his second master's degree, he was asked to pastor a new ministry, First Baptist Chapel of Markham, Illinois, while he finished college. He agreed, and he pastored this church as it moved to Dolton, Illinois.

When he finished college, he joined the staff of First Baptist Church of Hammond and continued to pastor the church in Dolton. This new, growing church was renting a church building that was only available to use on Sunday afternoons. Despite the circumstances the church had a high day of over 1,000 people! Pastor Brannon and the people of First Baptist Church of Dolton prayed and raised money for a building of their own.

In the summer of 2009, the answer to their prayers came. First Baptist Church of Dolton became First Baptist Church of South Holland, Illinois, moving to a more spacious property. After moving, the church began meeting in a tent, while working feverishly to repair the existing buildings and prepare a church auditorium. That fall the grand opening service was held in the renovated church auditorium.

God also blessed the Brannons with a baby boy, Daniel, in November of 2009. That same week the First Baptist Church had a big day with 875 people in attendance! The church has seen many great blessings in South Holland, especially through the merge with the First Baptist Chapel of Roseland in 2010. The Brannons are enjoying their work for God as they continue to serve and love people.
